Couch Recon: Complete

I bought a couch.

It was the ugliest colored one in the store.

It was love at first sight, and now it's MINE.

Operation: Couch Reconnaissance began harmlessly doing just that -- checking out what my options are, getting a sense of what I want, etc etc.  We went to Consigned Home Furnishings (I HIGHLY recommend this store if you're looking for furniture -- every piece is unique and really cool, some stuff is new, some used, and because it's consignment if they don't sell stuff in a certain amount of time they start marking it down a LOT).  Brother went with me and we weren't fifty feet into the store when he sat on this one and said "Hey what about this one?"  I, uh, well, it's -- It's .... Kind of awesome.....?

I sat on it, and it was all over.

Nobody in their right mind ever plans to buy a GOLD couch, but what was I to do?

Love is love.

Okaaay, it actually was NOT the ugliest colored couch in the store.  The Ugly Winner by far is a two chair and couch set made of --- waaaaait for it -- BABY PINK MOHAIR.

Did you just throw up in your mouth a little?  I did.

Hello, I Love You

Won't you tell me your name?

Maaaaybe I'll have some 'nana...

You really should try a pill bottle-turned custom rattle.
They are quite delicious.

If I can hold it, I can eat it.

Share?

Pretty?

Lens?

Siiiiigh... Will you do something funny soon?

...like.... TICKLE MY FEET AAHHHHHHHH!

You silly lady.

You're funny.

Uh, excuse me?  I'm nekked here.

Don't tell Mom I can read even though I can't walk yet.

It'll blow the whole plan.

Wise Words from BFFSC

Before the move --

"I wanted to tell you about living with a boy: there are some things that you'll think a boy wouldn't care about, like say the color of new plates or a couch, but he does for some reason and so do you because, well, you're a girl and an artist so those things matter.  Just something to keep in mind.  Compromise!"

Sage advice.

Thank you, J.

On Having Common Interests

11:46am
Will:  Wanna meet me at the Bagdad at 5:00 to watch something about dolphins?

11:47am
Will:  I like dolphins.

11:48am
Will:  I think it's safe to say we both like dolphins.

Did Anyone Else Cry?

I sure did.  I started crying immediately upon seeing my nephew for the first time, in photograph.  I sat with the feelings, the overwhelming rush, and let them quietly pass through me as I stared at his face for several minutes.

I haven't written poetry for anyone except my Boy in a long time.  But yesterday, after pondering what Today meant and filing the images of the day away in my "The Day You Were Born" file, the words fell out of my pen almost accidentally and I slipped into a mad Flow sesh.

[Soon to follow.]

In the meantime, this day is impossibly more beautiful than yesterday.

It feels good to be an Aunt.

July Wrap-Up

It is disappointing when I discover, over and over again, that coffee and peanut butter are not compatible.

Oh yeah, I had a birthday.
Yay for being closer to 30!
(No, really.)

He bought me a piano for my birthday.
I couldn't believe what I was looking at.
I screamed.
Then cried.
Then went silent and quietly wept for many minutes.
He didn't know how to take such a reaction.
Neither did I.

Now that's all I want to do.  It's all I think about.  I curse this blessedly enchanting weather for the pressure it puts on me to be outside, and not inside playing the piano.  I get to feel moved every day, moved beyond the place I thought my moveability stopped.

He calls that flow.  I like that idea, flow.  It's hard to find it in painting.  It's there and always waiting, but hard to get to.  But piano -- with piano flow is instantaneous.

                >>>>More piano
                       Less everything else

Best lately things:
the appeal of the aged radish
bye-bye hair
discovery:  the Americano
super invention you think would be more wide-spread: ceramic travel mug (with lid)
"some things needs to feel accidental"
the process of "brain dumping"

Not-so-good lately things
Road Rage (on my end, not theirs)
the causes of said Road Rage (on their end, not mine)
<see previous entry Of "All the Time & Things & Places">
85 degrees and hotter (YUGH)
getting back into a regular workout routine after the injuries (past progress = gone)
feeling a tad embarrassed when my hair dresser laughed at my DIY bangs
missing the sass from the gals at my old job . . .

                     flow

. to circulate around the body
. to move or progress freely as if in a stream
. to proceed or be produced continuously and effortlessly
. to be present in abundance
              . a continuous stream
              . natural happiness

I daydream of more tattoos.

. . .

Dear Old Laugh-o-dills

It is rather convenient that the first Weekend of Spring includes the official day the Daffodils decide to wake up from their naps.  They laugh in the face of rain, spit on cloudy weather and chilly nights, squash the wind storms and torrential downpours.  Winter -- PUH!  To my delight, I get to bask in their bright perky faces, admire the strong stems from which they stretch and yawn, smooth my fingertips over their sweet petals as I breathe the March air brisk with salty ocean smells.

Hi. Thank you for making my weekend.

 Eerie, strange, a little unreal.
Beginning of a science fiction story?

As the sun ducked in and out of passing clouds, the Boy and I parked ourselves on a curb to admire the weather, the folks passing by, the playing children. I got lost in the reflections on my shoes.

               Day One of iPhone:
I don't like this thing. It can't do what I want it to do.

               Day Seven, eight, nine...
I can check out audio books from the library on my phone!

PS - Love the red hoodie.  Some really
awesome chick must have gotten that
                                      for you...

Good hair lately.  It makes me feel like me.

Right now:

English Breakfast tea with a splash of half and half
The sweet muses of Fleet Foxes
Bear cuddled up in bed with his nose glued in a book
Not one, but two pairs of wool socks

Totally twitterpated over:

New kitchen arrangement
Mineral oiled butcher block countertop
A certain red hoodie
Florence Welch

                                                                      Five dollar
   Fake tulips                  polka-dotted hen (!)
This spectacular lampshade I
happened upon at Goodwill

Thank you, day.

These Shoes Were(n't) Made for Walkin'

A wonderful afternoon walk.  I'm wearing my Deck Shoes everywhere and they're starting to wear out already.  I always say, Never trust a Target shoe, but damn it I'm in love with these.  Wear 'em into the ground, like everything else.

Well, the flowers say it's Spring, so . . .

Oh, hi there.  You look very much like my Love.

...and a fun drawing to top off what I might venture to call
a Perfect Sunday.
